BELIZE June 20 - 27

Belize - Central America
Leader: Stephen Brannon stephenb@myfaithbaptist.org
missionaries: college students and high school juniors and seniors

The 411
The team will organize and lead a one week, summer youth camp for the youth of the community. The camp will be on the campus of the Belize Vo-Tech School. The teenage boys who live at the Vo-Tech School will be helping with the youth camp during the week. It’s through this camp, that missionaries will get the opportunity to strengthen the relationships of current believers and share the gospel with any and all nonbelievers.

How It Is
Generally known as one of the best snorkeling and scuba diving countries in the world, Belize is an incredibly beautiful place. The official language is English, but Spanish and Belizean Kriol are also extremely common. The official currency is the Belize dollar and the country is in the Central Standard Time zone. Temperatures range between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit during the spring months with temperatures being slightly higher inland. Missionaries are encouraged to dress conservatively and remain respectful of Central American culture.

How You’re Livin’
Missionaries will be staying on or near the Vo-Tech campus in very close proximity to the site of the youth camp.

Who They Are
The team will be working with area young people – mostly teen aged. Everyone in the community is very humble and very sincere. Missionaries would be wise to bring t-shirts and pants that they are not concerned about getting dirty with sweat or dirt. Closed toes shoes are needed as the campus is very earthy with dirt roads and sidewalks.

WHY YOU SHOULD GO: Because there are troubled youth who need to know that no matter what they have done or how tough things are, there is a new life possible in a relationship with Jesus Christ...
